José Dinis Silvestre is an Associate Professor with Habilitation at Instituto Superior Técnico (IST), Universidade de Lisboa, Portugal, and member and Vice-President of the research unit IST-CERIS. He is a Civil Engineer (2002), with MSc in Construction (2005) and Rehabilitation of Buildings, and PhD in Civil Engineering in the area of Life Cycle Assessment (2012), all at IST. José Silvestre has more than 10 years of experience of scientific and research activities in the field of sustainability in construction. He is the author or co-author of more than 80 ISI journal papers, 3 books, 60 reports and 65 conference papers. These papers present results of research related to the development of sustainable solutions for the construction sector and environmental performance of construction materials and assemblies. Coordinates 2 research projects with foreign partners, and participates in 1 international research project (having participated in other 2 as subcontracted consultant and in 1 Erasmus+ project) and in 13 national research projects (and in 5 more already concluded), related to sustainability and energy efficiency of building materials and construction solutions. José Silvestre is Associate Editor of the Environmental Science and Pollution Research journal, belongs to the Editorial Board of Sustainability journal and is a reviewer in 10 international scientific journals .
