Currently, I am a second year PhD student at NOVA University of Lisbon (Portugal), Faculty of Social and Human Sciences, enrolled on the Translation and Terminology course. Since my enrollment I have already presented papers in three field-specific international conferences (i.e., New Voices in Portuguese Translation Studies V 2022, New Voices in Portuguese Translation Studies VI 2023, and I Lisbon Spring School in Translation Studies 2023), participated in internationally reputed research programs (i.e., Lisbon Summer School in Linguistics 2022), and published research articles in the indexed journal Translation Matters 4(1). At the moment, after having finished the curricular component of the PhD program with 18 marks (0-20 scale), I find myself developing my PhD thesis titled "Descriptive-Comparative and Reception Study of Commercial Subtitling and Fansubbing of English Taboo Language into European Portuguese." Previously, I was a student at the University of Aveiro (Portugal), where I obtained my undergraduate degree in Translation (15 marks) and master's degree in Specialized Translation (17 marks) with a project titled "COVID-19 cardiovascular disease: glossary and translation of a Portuguese medical review article into English" (18 marks). During my master's in Specialized Translation, I found my research interest in Audiovisual Translation, the area where I am now developing my doctoral research, focusing on the comparative treatment of English taboo language by Portuguese fansubbers and commercial subtitlers. In the future, I intend to develop further research on English-to-European Portuguese fansubbing in general, tackling other matters beyond the taboo.
