Sara I. Faria completed a degree in Biochemistry by the University of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro in 2014, with a final classification of 13/20. In 2016, she graduated in Legal Medicine by the University of Porto, Institute of biomedical Sciences Abel Salazar (ICBAS), with a final classification of 17/20. During this time, she developed her master thesis, in the Portuguese Institute of Oncology, in a reseach group focused on the use of the BK virus, an indicator useful for the identification of dead bodies. She also, attend different trainings in different reference institutions focused on microbiology, biology and genetic techniques. In 2018, she started participating in a research project as a research fellow and in 2019 she started developing her PhD in Chemical and Biological Engineering at the University of Porto, Faculty of Engineering. Her work is part of the CVMAR+i project and the main goal of her PhD thesis is to understand the influence of hydrodynamic conditions and surface properties on development of cyanobacteria biofilm to develop strategies to control marine biofouling. She also wants to promote industrial innovation in the marine biotechnology context by proposing new products based on marine compounds obtained from the waste of the marine industry, to control marine bio-encrustation. In January or 2021, she finished her scientific career as a researcher fellow with the end of the CVMAR + i project, and started a new job at CeNTI - Center of Nanotechnology and Smart Materials, also as a researcher and project manager of a reseach projects in different areas such as automotive, health, environment with the main goal to offering products with high added value to the market. Sara I. Faria has produced a 5 papers as first author, 4 papers as author, and 3 scientific posters, two as the first author. She also participated on many events, being part of organizing committee in two of them. She received 1 honors for your school merit. In october 2021 she finished her PhD in Chemical and Biological Engineering at the University of Porto, Faculty of Engineering.
