Catarina Oliveira has a post-doc research position under the scope of the BLUEBIOLAB project, at 3B's Research Group, since November 2020. She holds a PhD in Tissue Engineering, Regenerative Medicine, and Stem Cells (July 2020) and an Integrated Master in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Minho (2013). During her MSc Catarina spent 6 months in the Developmental BioEngineering Group, Twente University (The Netherlands) under the ERASMUS program, working with hydrogel for Islet of Langerhans encapsulation. The work developed during her MSc thesis, at 3B's, resulted in a paper publication and a patent application, regarding the functionalization of fibrous membranes for tissue engineering purposes. With a research scholarship under the scope of the Novomar project, she started working with marine-derived compounds. In 2016, she was granted a PhD scholarship where she focused on fucoidan's antitumor activity for the development of different systems. This work resulted in 6 published papers as first author in Q1 journals, 1 patent application, 3 oral presentations (ESB'18, TERMIS-EU'19, Forecast 2021), and other presentations in important scientific meetings. During this period, she has also collaborated with other colleagues, students, and institutes, resulting in different publications. She was involved in the writing/execution of projects/tasks, as well as in the review of publications for scientific journals. In addition to her scientific path, Catarina attended Quality Management and Internal Audits courses (ISO 9001:2015), a post-graduation in Management of Healthcare Services at Porto Business School (grade 17/20), and a Project Management course. Overall, Catarina's research activity resulted in 17 papers (14 published + 3 under final preparation/submitted/under peer-review) in international peer-review journals (8 published as first author), 4 book chapters, 2 patent applications, 3 oral, and 14 posters presentations in international scientific meetings. She has an h-index of 9 in Scopus and Google Scholar, 242 citations in Scopus, and 288 citations in Google Scholar.
