Piotr Smolenski completed his PhD in 1999 from the Faculty of Chemistry at the University of Wroclaw, Poland. He then spent three years as a postdoctoral researcher at the Technical University in Lisbon, Portugal before starting his independent career at the University of Wroclaw. His research focuses on supramolecular and coordination chemistry in both solid state and solution, as well as crystal engineering and their applications in materials and life sciences. He became an Associate Professor in Inorganic Chemistry at the University of Wroclaw in 2019 and was promoted to Full Professor in 2021. Piotr Smolenski has also spent time at Technical University in Berlin for seven months and has made shorter visits to Dortmund, Lisbon, and Padova Universities.
