Eduarda Maria Freitas Gomes da Silva Neves is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pathology and Molecular Immunology at the Institute of Biomedical Sciences Abel Salazar (ICBAS) at the University of Porto since 2012. She is a lecturer and director of the curricular units Sanitary Inspection I and Exognosia and Animal Management and lecturer of Animal Welfare, Deontology and Veterinary Ethics of the Integrated Master of Veterinary Medicine. Since 2019 she is a diplomate from the European College of Veterinary Public Health (ECVPH-EVBS) in subspecialty Food Science. She completed a degree in Veterinary Medicine at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of the Technical University of Lisbon in 1992, a master's degree in Public Health at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Porto in 2003 and a PhD in Veterinary Sciences at ICBAS, in 2012. From 1992 to 1994 worked in companion animal medicine practice and between 1994 and 2009 was Official Veterinarian of the General Directorate of Food and Veterinary - Direção Geral de Alimentação e Veterinária; from 1998 and 2009 was a guest lecturer at ICBAS. In 2009 she took on an exclusive academic career.
