Trayana Tankova was awarded a PhD in Steel and Composite Construction in June 2018 at the University of Coimbra with Distinction and Cum Laude. She is currently working as an assistant professor at the University of Coimbra and she is an integrated member of ISISE ¿ Institute for Sustainability and Innovation in Structural Engineering. Her main activities are research in steel construction, teaching, preparation of applications for funding, management of research projects, supervision of students. In the last five years, she was strongly involved in two projects: the European project SAFEBRICTILE RFSR-CT-2013-00023, which was focused on the reassessment of the reliability of the Eurocode 3 design rules and the national project TAPERSTEEL PTDC/ECM-EST/1970/2012 where design rules for non-uniform steel members were developed. She also carried out research tasks for other European projects. At present, she is working on the European project STROBE - Stronger Steels in the Built Environment, focusing on stability design rules for high strength steel members and European and National projects INNO3DJOINTS, focused on development of a design procedure in the framework of the component method for innovative plug-and-play joints and AMConstruction, which develops additive manufacturing solutions for steel construction. She has proven herself as a motivated researcher as she has already published 11 articles in ISI journals and participated in over 9 leading conferences in, e.g. Hong Kong, Timisoara, Copenhagen among others. She is full member of the Technical Committee 8 ¿ Stability, of ECCS and the Portuguese Mirror group of Eurocode 3 CT115/SC3. The research interests cover various topics in Steel and Composite Construction, more specifically codification and analytical methods, reliability of design rules, steel joints and additive manufacturing.
