Born in July 1990 in Egypt, Ahmed M. Abouelmaty is a civil engineer with a robust academic and research background in offshore structures and foundation dynamics. He earned his B.Sc. in Civil Engineering from AASTMT (an ABET-accredited university), in July 2012, graduating with distinction and an honorary degree (CGPA 3.43/4.0). In May 2015, he completed his M.Sc. in Structural Engineering at the same institution with distinction (CGPA 3.94/4.0). Ahmed holds a Ph.D. from the University of Porto, Portugal. His doctoral research focused on vibrations induced by pile driving and associated mitigation measures, complemented by experimental studies conducted at a dedicated test site. His work contributes to advancing the understanding of the dynamic response of foundation systems during installation. Professionally, Ahmed began his academic career as an Assistant Lecturer at AASTMT, where he served from 2013 to 2019. Between 2020 and July 2022, he worked as a Research Fellow on the Portuguese National Funding Agency for Science and Technology (FCT) project VIPIB (PTDC/ECI-CON/29634/2017). In August 2022, Ahmed secured a prestigious three-year competitive funding award through FCT's "2022 Call for Ph.D. Studentships Regular Line," ranking second among 118 international candidates. From November 2023 to March 2024, he further expanded his expertise as a Visiting Researcher at TU Delft, Netherlands, collaborating on a project with an industrial partner (C1 Connection). This work focused on advanced explicit numerical analysis (LS-Dyna, ANSYS) of monopile foundations during the driving process. Ahmed masters coding languages MATLAB, Python and R.
