Resume: Ahmed M. Abouelmaty, born in July 1990 in Egypt. He earned his B.Sc. in Civil Engineering with honors (17/20) in July 2012 from university of AASTMT, an ABET-accredited university. In May 2015, he completed his M.Sc. in Structural Engineering with distinction (20/20) at the same university. In November 2024, Ahmed was awarded his Ph.D. from the University of Porto, Portugal. His doctoral research centered on developing innovative methods to predict and mitigate vibrations induced by impact pile driving, a critical challenge in geotechnical engineering. His work combined advanced dynamic behavior analysis of soil-structure interaction during pile driving with cutting-edge Artificial Intelligence (AI) techniques, resulting in practical solutions to reduce adverse effects. The outcomes of his research contribute significantly to safer and more efficient construction practices, with valuable implications for both academia and industry. Key outputs of his Ph.D. include the publication of three articles in SCOPUS-indexed journals along with securing a copyright registration for a standalone computer software he developed during his research, that considered the first step for his startup. Additionally, Ahmed created a dedicated website to present his research findings, enhancing the accessibility and visibility of standalone software. To further expand his expertise, Ahmed collaborated with TU Delft, Netherlands, and C1 Connection, a leading industrial partner, during his doctoral work. This collaboration involved advanced explicit numerical analysis using state-of-the-art tools such as LS-Dyna and ANSYS to model monopile foundations during driving processes. His work addressed real-world challenges with a strong emphasis on sustainability and innovation. From 2020 to 2022, Ahmed worked as a Research Fellow on the VIPIB Project (PTDC/ECI-CON/29634/2017), funded by the Portuguese National Funding Agency for Science and Technology (FCT). In 2022, he earned a highly competitive FCT Ph.D. studentship, achieving second place among 118 international candidates in the "2022 Call for Ph.D. Studentships – Regular Line." Ahmed’s research has equipped him with extensive technical proficiencies, including mastery of coding languages such as MATLAB, Python, and R, as well as hands-on expertise in both experimental and numerical modeling.
