Isabela Basto is a Civil Engineer, Master in Environment, Water, and Sewage, and a Ph.D. student from the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto with a scholarship granted by the FCT institution. She is also a member of the Earth-Ocean-Atmosphere Interactions research team at CIIMAR - Interdisciplinary Center of Marine and Environmental Research. Her studies are related to Water Resources Management and Planning, Hydrological and Hydraulic Modeling. Her current research involves the development and improvement of methodologies for forecasting extreme weather events, focusing on Machine Learning techniques. She also has experience in projects and construction of water supply and sewage systems (2008-2011), construction budgets of Health Centers and Hospitals (2012-2015), and worked as a researcher in the Water Resources Group at the Federal University of Bahia (Brazil) (2015-2020).
