Juliana Alves has a Biology degree from the Faculty of Sciences at the University of Porto, which she completed in 2000. She obtained her Ph.D. in Biomedical Sciences from the ICBAS - Abel Salazar Biomedical Sciences Institute - at the University of Porto in 2009. Juliana has over a decade of experience in the health sciences field as a researcher and has contributed significantly to the academic landscape. Juliana's achievements include the publication of 34 papers in international peer-reviewed journals, where she was the first author in seven of them and the last author in three of them. Additionally, she has contributed a book chapter as the first author. Juliana has presented her research findings at numerous national and international conferences, delivering 16 oral presentations and 49 posters. Juliana has also been involved in collaborative projects, including six projects funded by FCT (one as co-PI and one as core CV), one project funded by the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, and one project funded by INEB (as co-PI). She supervised three master's theses, co-supervised another, supervised two undergraduate students, and mentored three undergraduate trainees. She also co-supervised a Ph.D. student (ITN Action PREMUROSA ref. 860462). Transitioning from her research-focused roles, Juliana immersed herself in European project management. Her expertise paved the way for her to embrace a new career phase, focusing on innovation management. She was a Science Manager for the European project MIRACLE (ref: 780598) and later an Industry-Academia-Clinical Liaison Officer in the RESOLVE-Health 2.0 Innovation Acceleration Program at i3S. Currently, Juliana holds the position of Project Manager for the Pathfinder project Blood2Power (ref: 101115525), where she continues to contribute to the advancement of innovative solutions in the health sector.
