Renata Sofia Araújo da Silva (RS) has completed her MSc in Toxicology, in 2006, at the University of Aveiro, and her PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences - Specialty of Toxicology, at the Faculty of Pharmacy of the University of Porto (FFUP), in 2013. She is currently Researcher at UCIBIO -Unidade de Ciências Biomoleculares Aplicadas, Laboratory of Toxicology of FFUP. RS published 88 articles in Peer Review International Journals (most of the journals Q1 on their respective fields) and two book chapters, presenting an h-index of 31 (~3840 citations). She works in the area (s) of Medical and Health Sciences, with an emphasis on Basic Medicine, highlighting the Toxicology, Pharmacology and Pharmacy fields. Her work is focused in the elucidation of the toxicological profile of drugs of abuse, as well as in the field of neurodegeneration and drug discovery, aiming at identifying new disease-modifying drugs with clinical potential for the treatment of neurodegenerative diseases. During the PhD and pos-doc research, RS developed advanced skills and competences in in vitro studies (cell culture of different cell lines, cytotoxicity, metabolism, type of induced cell death, among many others) and in analytical techniques (Flow cytometry, HPLC-UV, UPLC-MS/MS and GC-MS). She already supervised or co-supervised 13 master students and 14 pre-graduate students , which successfully completed their works. At the present, she supervises or co-supervises 7 FCT-funded PhD students, 4 master students and 2pre-graduate students. In her Curriculum Vitae , the most frequent terms in the context of scientific and technological production are: P-glycoprotein, Neurodegenerative diseases, Drug discovery, Drug delivery systems, in vitro cytotoxicity studies, drugs of abuse. RS actively participated in two international projects, namely in the TOX-OER project [by developing pedagogical material to an international Massive Open Online Course(MOOC) on Toxicology (https://toxoer.com/)] and in the OEMONOM project (https://portal.faf.cuni.cz/OEMONOM/EN/Home/), both co-financed by the European commission through the Erasmus+ program. She has also participated in 11 funded scientific projects, 3 of them still ongoing.
