Francisca C. Moreira (FCM) is an Assistant Researcher at the LSRE-LCM, ALiCE, Faculty of Engineering of University of Porto (FEUP), Portugal. She also serves as an Editor for the Journal of Environmental and Chemical Engineering (IF of 7.4), Elsevier. FCM was awarded a PhD degree in Environmental Engineering by FEUP in 2016. Her research interest relies on developing cutting-edge and sustainable technologies for the valorization of liquid and gaseous waste streams towards the synthesis of chemicals and fuels, and the remediation of water and wastewater. The novel technologies are centered on (1) innovative processes, mainly electrochemical processes (electrocatalysis, photoelectrocatalysis, electro-Fenton), but also photocatalysis, ozonation, and integrated treatment strategies, (2) pioneering reactor designs with enhanced mass and photon transfer, and (3) new materials for electrodes and photoelectrodes. She leads the electrochemistry research line in the Environmental Engineering group of the LSRE-LCM. FCM has 101 communications, including 34 papers in international peer-reviewed journals, 23 oral communications in conferences (4 keynote/invited talks), 43 poster communications in conferences, and 1 patent. She has a h-index of 22 with >3425 citations according to Scopus (ID: 55307964900), and a h-index of 23 and a i10-index of 28 with >4171 citations according to Google Scholar. She is corresponding author in 18 of the papers and first author in 13 of them. She has participated/is participating in 16 national/international projects: eMetCO2, CO2-to-CH4, ATE, LigTech, SERPIC, Healthy Waters, OZONE4WATER, UID/EQU/50020/2019, LA/P/0045/2020, AIProcMat@N2020, UID/EQU/50020/2013 - POCI-01-0145-FEDER-006984, AdvancedLFT, SOLARVIN, PESTIFOTOBIOX, and 2 Transnational Cooperation FCT/CAPES projects (FCT/2469/14/2/2012/S, and FCT/4981/6/4/2018/S). She was/is the Principal Investigator (PI) of LigTech and eMetCO2 projects. FCM interacted with more than 100 collaborators in over 12 countries and 4 continents, sharing authorship in papers with 71 authors and 38 foreign authors, and connecting with many others in projects and ongoing work. She completed multiple international internships at renowned institutions, including the University of Padua (Italy), the University of Barcelona (Spain), the University of Castilla-La Mancha (Spain), and Khalifa University (United Arab Emirates). She has/is supervising a total of 26 students/researchers (7 PhD, 5 MSc, 9 PhD exchange students, 3 post-doc exchange students, 1 research fellow, and 1 undergraduate student). She has also driven other activities, such as teaching, reviewing, participation as a panel member on theses (7), organization of conferences (8), and transfer and dissemination of knowledge. During her research path, she received various awards/distinctions, including (i) Early Career Researcher Award at the V Iberoamerican Conference on Advanced Oxidation Technologies (V CIPOA), Cusco, Peru, 2022, (ii) PhD thesis Approved with Praise and Distinction (Cum Laude), (iii) the best PhD thesis prize awarded by the European PhD School on Advanced Oxidation Processes, and (iv) 4 best poster awards.
