Dr Adam Standring is an invited auxiliary researcher at ISEG and currently works on the H2020 project Sustainable intensification of food production through resilient farming systems in West & North Africa (SustInAfrica). Prior to this he was a Marie Sklodowska-Curie Individual Fellow at De Montfort University, UK and a post-doctoral research fellow Örebro University, Sweden. He has also been an invited research fellow at the Geary Institute of Public Policy, University College Dublin, Ireland, and is an associated researcher at the Centre for Environmental and Sustainability Social Science (CESSS) at Örebro University. He completed his doctorate in Political Science (specializing in Public Policy) at Universidade Nova de Lisboa in 2018 and holds a Masters in Politics from the University of York, UK. His research primarily focuses on the political sociology of expertise and knowledge production in complex and contested policy fields. His work is interdisciplinary, bridging the fields of environmental sociology, political science, public policy and human geography. He has published in top disciplinary journals including, Nature Climate Change, WIRES Climate Change, Dialogues in Human Geography, European Journal of Political Research and Policy & Politics. He also has published book chapters in edited volumes for Cambridge University Press, Palgrave Macmillan and Rowman & Littlefield. His current research interests have focused on the politics of expertise in the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, knowledge for policymaking in times of crisis and the role of social science in transformative change.
