Ana S. Fajardo is an Assistant Researcher at i2A - Polytechnic Institute of Coimbra. She holds a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Coimbra (2017) and awarded with the European Ph.D. in Advanced Oxidation Processes. She has an international and multidisciplinary research background in materials science and environmental engineering obtained from the research groups she worked with in Portugal, Brazil, the USA, and France. Her research focuses on the sustainable management within the water-energy nexus at an applied science angle. The research projects she is working on seek solutions using electrochemically driven processes to solve environmental challenges. Her contribution to the advancement of environmental electrochemistry resulted in 33 peer-reviewed articles with h = 17, 2 patents, 20 oral presentations and 13 poster presentations in international conferences, invited speaker in 2 events and reviewer of more than 150 manuscripts. Dr. Fajardo was guest editor in Sustainability with the special issue: Toxicity Assessment and Remediation of Industrial Wastewater. She promotes outreach activities and mentor students from undergraduate level to PhD.
