Dennis Zuev is a Researcher at the Centre for Research and Studies in Sociology, CIES-ISCTE, Lisbon, Portugal. He has held various researcher positions at Max Planck Institute for Social Anthropology, Halle, Germany, the Institute of Social Futures, Lancaster University, UK and the Institute for Advanced Studies for Science, Technology, and Society, Graz, Austria. He has been a senior lecturer at Nurtingen-Geislingen University, Germany; invited professor at ISCTE Business School, Portugal; and invited professor at University of Graz, Austria and University of Kuopio, Finland. In 2013-16, along with Prof. John Urry he was involved in the ESRC-funded "Low Carbon Innovation in China" project at the Centre for Mobilities Research, UK. In 2020-2021 He was an assistant professor at the City University of Macau, Macau SAR, where he taught transportation studies, research methods and tourism economics. He has conducted extensive fieldwork in mainland China and Macau, Portugal, Russia and Argentina. His publication record spans different disciplines: urban studies, visual media, sociology, science and technology studies, arctic social sciences and transportation studies. He has published as a single author and as a co-author in more than 17 different top peer-reviewed journals, eg. Technological Forecasting and Social Change, Environmental Innovation and Sociotechnical Transitions, Annals of Tourism Research, Journal of Contemporary China, Mobilities, Visual Studies. His current Scopus H Index is 10. In 2018 he published first book-length study on e-bikes: "Urban Mobility in Modern China: The Growth of the E-Bike" with Palgrave McMillan. In 2020 he has co-authored a book "Visual Sociology: politics and practices in contested spaces", also with Palgrave. He has edited THREE books (all with Routledge) on aspects of urban transportation and visual data analysis. Dennis Zuev is a CO-FOUNDER (in 2006) and former Vice President (research) of the Research Committee RC57 Visual Sociology in the International Sociological Association. He is a MEMBER OF EDITORIAL BOARD of journals "Mobilities"(Taylor&Francis), "Visual Studies" (Taylor&Francis), Visual Methodologies. He is also an active member of Urban Transitions Hub, Cosmobilities network and a member of European Association of Chinese Studies. Since 2022 he is a founding co-editor of the book series "Social Visualities" at Palgrave.
