Biologist (BS, graduated in 1997) and PhD candidate in Art History (ongoing), both in the University of Lisbon. I am writing my doctoral thesis focused on the binomial Art-Science, having as advisors Prof. Dr. Vítor Serrão (FLUL) and Prof. Dr. Luís Mendonça de Carvalho (FCSH-NOVA). In my doctoral research I have seen more than five thousand natural history drawings produced by Portuguese, Spanish, British and Asian artists and naturalists in the long 18th century. From a selection of almost three hundred artworks I examined and characterized it regarding fauna, flora, natural habitats and climate elements depicted. Besides History of Art, other fields such as History of Science (particularly Natural History), Visual Culture and Global History also play an important role in my research. Other objects of interests are prints, paintings, tiles, illuminations, and old book illustrations on the same topic Art-Science. As a biologist and an art history PhD candidate I authored several publications.
