Joana Isabel da Silva Carvalho. Completed a BSc in Biology at the University of Porto (2007) and obtained a Masters degree in Human and Environmental Biology (2008) and a PhD in Ecology (December 2014) from the University of Lisbon. Was a visiting researcher at the Research Centre in Biodiversity and Genetic Resources (CIBIO) and at the School of Environment and Life Sciences, University of Salford, UK (2015). Following maternity leave (2016-2017), she was a postdoc at the University of Stirling, UK (2017-2019) where her research focussed on assessing the exposure risk of primates to climate and land-use changes. Since fall 2019 she is a postdoc in the School of Biological and Environmental Sciences at Liverpool John Moores University (UK) where she works on chimpanzee distribution modelling across the Greater Mahale Ecosystem in Tanzania. She has broad experience in field-based ecological research and capacity building in developing countries as well as strong quantitative and GIS skills. She has a proven track record of successful collaborative work, strong communication and team management skills, and in obtaining research funding.
