Industrial Pharmacist Bachelor obtained from Alfenas University, Brazil (1999). During my undergraduate, I gained experience in genotoxicity evaluation (micronucleus model, comet assay). Master’s in Pharmacology - University of São Paulo State – UNESP, Brazil where I worked with in vivo reproductive toxicology models (teratogenesis, gametogenesis). Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences University of São Paulo - USP, Brazil (2005). During my PhD thesis, I worked with in vivo models of inflammation and gastric ulcers. After earning my Ph.D., I was hired by the University of Itajai Valley, where I established and led the Pharma Lab for 13 years (2007-2020). This lab was dedicated to studying Toxicology (acute, sub-chronic, chronic, reproductive) and the effects of natural products in treating or preventing inflammatory diseases that affect the gastrointestinal tract (gastritis, ulcers, inflammatory bowel diseases, chemotherapy-induced mucositis), hypertension, diabetes, and hepatotoxicity using in vivo models. In this lab, I also standardized a melanoma model induced by injecting B16F10 cells into C57BL/6 mice. I led a team of approximately 20 people, including undergraduate, Master's, Ph.D., and Postdoc students, as well as scientists and technicians. Later, I also implemented models of hepatoprotection and hypertension. I was Guest Researcher at Medicine Faculty, Lund University-Sweden (2017-2018), where I developed projects on natural products fermented by Probi® Company probiotics bacteria (Lp299V, LpHeal9, LpHeal19) and their beneficial effects on the gastrointestinal (Dextran sodium sulfate (DSS)-induced colitis). While at Lund University, I also completed training in Laboratory Animal Science for Researchers – Rodents and Lagomorphs, obtaining certification from FELASA (Federation of European Laboratory Animal Science Associations). Currently, I am Researcher at Lusofona University, Lisbon, Portugal, where I develop projects about the Pharmacology and Physiology of the skin and Cardiovascular, focused mainly on macro and microcirculation. Throughout my career, I was the advisor of 6 PhD thesis, 22 master theses, and 38 bachelor's degree projects. Also, I supervised 3 postdoc researchers. Additionally, I have published more than 140 articles in peer-reviewed international journals (the majority in Q1 journals) and authored six book chapters. My papers are widely cited and my H-index is 32. Additionally, I was guest editor of international periodicals 3 times, and currently, I am Frontiers in Pharmacology Associated Editor.
