Patrícia Concórdio-Reis completed a PhD in Chemical and Biochemical Engineering in 2022 by NOVA School of Science and Technology (FCT NOVA). Currently, she is an Invited Assistant Professor at FCT NOVA, and a Junior Researcher at the FCT NOVA Biochemical engineering group (BIOENG). Her expertise is in the areas of Industrial Biotechnology and Biomaterials, wherein she studies value-added microbial polymers produced by bacteria and microalgae, focusing on the optimization of bioreactor production, downstream processes, and biopolymer characterization techniques. Moreover, she explores suitable applications for biopolymers based on their physical, chemical, functional, and bioactive properties, envisaging their future exploitation. She published 17 papers, 3 book chapters and made 16 presentations (8 oral and 8 posters) at international conferences on this topic. She was also involved in 8 projects with industry and academic partners, including 6 European projects.
