Works in the area(s) of Engineering and Technology with emphasis on Industrial Biotechnology with emphasis on Bio-derived Novel Materials, Medical and Health Sciences with emphasis on Medical Biotechnology with emphasis on Technologies Involving the Manipulation of Cells, Tissues, Organs or the Whole Organism and Medical and Health Sciences with emphasis on Medical Biotechnology with emphasis on Biomaterials. In their professional activities interacted with 43 collaborator(s) co-authorship of scientific papers. In his curriculum Ciência Vitae the most frequent terms in the context of scientific, technological and artistic-cultural output are: Tissue engineering; 3D Tumor model; Molecular profiling; Leather industry; scaffolds; 3D cancer model; 3D tumor model; biomateria; microfluidics; biomaterials; tumor on chip; metastasis; organ on chip; Hydrogels; tissue engineering; hydrogels; silk fibroin; gellun g; collagen; scaffolds; . The scientific activities has been based on cancer research, in particular breast and pancreatic cancer. During the postdoctoral activity, the research has focused on the realization of 3D dynamic human cancer cell culture to study the interaction between stroma and cancer cells. In particular, a 3D model of pancreatic cancer, seeding fibroblasts and tumor cells on biodegradable porous gelatin microcarriers was realized. Moreover microfluidics devices for 3D breast cancer tissue models has been used. Another important achievement was the use of heterotypic breast cancer microtissues as screening platform for stimuli-responsive nanoparticles. During the PhD, Brancato's research was also focused on the analysis of the anti influenza viruses of synthetic compounds that were analogous in structure to Arbidol, an anti-flu already available in Russia and China.
