I am an integrated researcher at CIS-Iscte, Instituto Universitário de Lisboa (Iscte-IUL), funded by Portuguese Foundation of Science and Technology (FCT). My research falls within the areas of cognitive linguistics and experimental psychology. At the broadest level, I am interested in how such grounding mechanisms as the body, action, modality-specific systems, and environments (physical and social) affect the processing of concepts. I am also interested in statistical analysis of language data and use advanced techniques such as linear mixed effects models in my research. I am committed to open science and reproducible research practices, and strive to make my work as transparent and reproducible as possible. I published in multiple leading peer-reviewed journals in the areas of cognitive linguistics (e.g., Journal of Memory & Language, Metaphor & Symbol, Cognitive Science) and experimental psychology (e.g., Psychonomic Bulletin & Review, Journal of Experimental Psychology: Learning, Memory & Cognition, Emotion, Psychological Bulletin). My doctoral and postdoctoral research has been supported by several agencies (including Erasmus Mundus Ph.D. grant from European Commission and FCT individual postdoctoral fellowship). Currently, I am the Principal Investigator of the "Language does not stand alone: Integrating perceptual experience in sentence processing" project, funded by FCT (CEEC IND4ed, Auxiliary Researcher level, https://doi.org/10.54499/2021.01551.CEECIND/CP1694/CT0012). I have presented the results of my studies at national and international conferences in Braga, Lisbon, Faro, Funchal, Berlin, Paris, Lancaster, Madrid, and Sydney. Apart from research, I have taught such specialized cognition-oriented courses as "Cognition and Emotion" and "Perspectives and Theories on Emotion" at the master level, as well as a methodology-oriented course "Research Seminar in Psychology - Advanced Methodologies" at the doctoral level. Finally, I have also supervised master dissertations of students interested in investigating topics that tie in with my research.
