Anna Traveset is a Research Professor of the Spanish Research Council at the Mediterranean Institute of Advanced Studies (IMEDEA, CSIC-UIB), based on Mallorca (Balearic Islands). She has extensive experience in the study of plant-animal interactions in terrestrial ecosystems, mainly in islands, evaluating the impact of global change in native ecological interactions, using the approach of network theory. She has been principal investigator of 19 of 53 national projects, and Spanish responsible in 5 of the 11 internationals in which she have participated. She is currently coordinating projects in the Balearics Islands, the Canary Islands, the Galapagos Islands and the Seychelles. have. She collaborates in various projects with researchers from different Spanish and foreign institutions, and has published works with researchers from 30 countries. Prof. Traveset received her BS in Biology from the University of Barcelona. Her PhD work was conducted at the University of Pennsylvania, where she studied plant-insect interactions in Costa Rica under the supervision of Daniel Janzen. She then conducted postdoctoral research with Carlos Herrera and Pedro Jordano at the Doñana Biological Station in Seville, Spain. She has c. 300 publications in scientific journals (200 in SCI-ndexed journals) and leads the Department of Terrestrial Ecology at IMEDEA. She has supervised numerous students and serves on the editorial board of several journals of ecology, including Oikos, AoB Plants, Diversity & Distributions, Journal of Pollination Ecology, PeerJ and PLANTS. She has also edited two 'special issues', one in J. Biogeography (2012) and another in AoB Plants (2015), and a book on '”Plant Invasions: the role of Species Interactions” commissioned by CABI. She has been a Spanish representative in several national and international committees (e.g. LIFE, EURODIVERSITY, IUBS) and a member of an evaluation panel (L8) of the advanced ERC grants in the period 2012-2014. I have been vice-president of the Spanish Association of Terrestrial Ecology in the period 2015-2018. Since 2019, she am a member of the Advisory Committee of the NGO Mediterranean Small Islands Initiative. She is regularly invited to give lectures in Spain and abroad, and contributes to the training of national and international students, having supervised a total of 17 PhD theses, 13 postdocs and 12 master theses. She has given a large number of conferences inside and outside Spain, and regularly contribute to the training of collaborating students from the Univ. of the Balearic Islands and vocational training students from high schools in Mallorca. She has participated as a professor in the Master's Degree in Global Change at the Univ. Menéndez Pelayo, and she is currently a member of the International Laboratory on Global Change (http://www.lincg.uc-csic.es/) and of the Laboratori Intersdisciplinar de Canvi Climàtic de les Illes Balears (http://lincc.uib.eu). Traveset contributes to the dissemination of science, regularly participating in the Science Week and giving seminars in primary and secondary schools, and - since 2019 – she collaborates in an European LIFE project whose main objective is to involve people in the conservation of pollinators. In 2017 she was awarded the Jaume I Prize (modality: Environmental Protection), and since 2019 she was nominated CSIC delegate in the Balearic Islands.
