Rita N. Gomes majored in Bioengineering (Molecular Biotechnology) from Faculdade de Engenharia da Universidade do Porto in July 2017. During her degree Rita N. Gomes has been a trainee at IBMC and did her Erasmus+ Internship programme at Blizard Institute, Queen Mary University London, working on white matter injury. In 2017, Rita N. Gomes developed her master thesis in Bioengineered Surfaces group at INEB/i3S under the orientation of Dr. Inês Gonçalves, where she developed antimicrobial silicones for use in catheters. This work culminated in various oral and poster presentations and a publication as first author in an international journal (IF=7). From 2018 to the present, Rita N. Gomes has been developing her work in the Stem Cells in Regenerative Biology and Repair group with an MSc research fellowship. Her work focused primarily on cardiovascular diseases and heart repair/regeneration.
