Ana Abrunhosa

Ana Abrunhosa is a Postdoctoral Researcher at IPHES (Es) with an MSCA-COFUND R2STAIRS programme fellowship and Associate Researcher at ICArEHB (Pt). She has Bachelor's in Archaeology for which she received 2 awards, a Master's in Archaeology ans a Postgraduation in Geology, all from the University of Porto. She holds a PhD in Archaeology from the University of Algarve/ICArEHB in collaboration with the Archaeological and Paleontological Regional Museum of Madrid (Spain) with funding from FCT (PT) and Wenner-Gren Foundation (USA). She is experienced in Archaeometry and Geoarchaeological studies having analysed Iron Age copper adornments and glass beads in her early studies and mostly lithic assemblages from Pinilla del Valle (Es), Gruta Nova da Columbeira (Pt), Baixo Vale do Côa (Pt), El Sotillo (Es) Castelo Venho (Pt) Abri du Maras and Payre (Fr). She is interested in the application of archaeometric techniques and geoarchaeology to answer questions related to technological development and human behaviour. Current research focuses on the characterisation and provenance of lithic raw materials from Middle and Late Pleistocene sites in the Iberian Peninsula and SE France, with a special interest in rocks of metamorphic and igneous origin. Published in several peer-reviewed journals with impact factors, 3 book chapters. Has interacted with more than 20 collaborators mainly (but not exclusively) from Portuguese, Spanish and French Research institutions in co-authored scientific work.
