Filipe Costa is a researcher at CAMGSD — Instituto Superior Técnico, Lisbon, working in Mathematical Physics – General Relativity. He obtained his PhD on Physics (General Relativity) at the University of Porto in 2012, and joined CAMGSD as a postdoctoral FCT fellow from 2013 to 2018, becoming a contracted researcher thereafter. His research focuses on the problem of motion in general relativity, particularly in the gravitational field produced by moving matter ("gravitomagnetism"), and the equations of motion for extended spinning bodies in an external field. He has published 16 articles in peer reviewed journals (one of them highlighted by Physical Review D), and one bookchapter. He has given numerous seminars and talks in international conferences (several as an invited speaker). He regularly serves as a referee for leading journals in gravitation and general relativity (counting over 30 reviews to date), having been awarded the Outstanding Reviewer Award by IOP in 2022, for his work with the journal Classical and Quantum Gravity.
