Antonio Riveiro Rodríguez is a Industrial Engineer from the University of Vigo in 2005, PhD in Applied Physics from the same University in 2009, and lecturer in solid mechanics from 2019. He has a large experience in laser processing (since 2005) for its application in different research fields. He has also been involved in biomaterials research and laser modification and synthesis of biomaterials since 2007. His most relevant research lines include works on: Laser macroprocesses and laser microprocesses. The work in this field is summarized in the publication of 6 articles in JCR-indexed journals, 1 book chapter as well as the granting of 1 national patent. He has also been recognized with an award in one of the most relevant international conferences in the field of laser materials processing (ICALEO'06). The Extraordinary Doctorate Award has also been granted to us (2009/10 academic year). In the field devoted to the laser microprocessing, he have intensely involved in two research lines: the generation of nanofibres and the production of nanoparticles by means of laser-based techniques for biomedical applications. Work in these lines has led to the publication of 18 papers in JCR-indexed journals. He has collaborated, from the beginning, in the development of the "laser spinning" technique to produce bioactive glass nanofibres. This collaboration led to the publication of 2 works in the reputed scientific journals "Advanced Functional Materials" and Science Advances. In addition, he has helped to develop the experimental systems needed for the production of nanoparticles by laser ablation for antibacterial applications. Since 2012, he has also worked on the surface modification of biomaterials (mainly polymers) to promote their biocompatibility. This resulted in the publication of 7 articles in JCR-indexed journals. He performed research stays at the Lappeenranta Laser Processing Center (Finland, Prof. V. Kujanpaa), and the School of Materials (University of Manchester, Prof. J. Robson). He has also received two postdoctoral grants (Plan I2C-Xunta de Galicia) to perform postdoctoral research stays at Imperial College London (Bioglass lab, Prof. J. Jones) and in the University of Minho (3Bs-Biomaterials, Biodegradables and Biomimetics lab, Prof. R.L. Reis & Dr. R.A. Pires). He has also been involved in the supervision of 1 PhD thesis (currently supervising 3 more); 4 MsC dissertations; 5 BSc dissertations; and 4 Final Degree Projects, all at the University of Vigo. Finally, as a result of his work, he has been cited 1,676 times (source Publons), with a total of 149 publications with an h-index of 23.
