I got my BSc (2011) and my MSc (2013) Degrees in Chemistry at the Faculty of Sciences University of Porto (FCUP), Portugal. I was a master thesis student in Fernanda Borges research group (https://drugdiscoveryup.pt/) with a research focused on the design and synthesis of chemical compounds with therapeutic potential for neurodegenerative diseases. From 2014 to 2015 I worked as a pre-doctoral researcher in a FCT funded project (FCTEXPL/QEQ-QFI/2078/2013) at CICECO - Aveiro Institute of Materials, University of Aveiro, Portugal. After this grant I stayed in the same institution with two more grants. In 2017 I was a researcher at LEPABE, Faculty of Engineering University of Porto in the project FEUP -PowerFlow - Perfil 8 - POCI-01-0247-FEDER-003405. In the year of 2018, I integrated again Fernanda Borges group in the project Sustainable Advanced Materials (SAM) NORTE-01-0145-FEDER-000028. In October 2018 I was awarded a PhD grant from ministry of Italy and started my Doctoral Program in Life, Environmental and Drug Sciences (Drug Sciences curriculum) at the University of Cagliari, Sardinia under the supervision of Professor Elias Maccioni. My doctoral project was dedicated to the development of selective carbonic anhydrases inhibitors with potential antitumor activity. I obtained my Doctoral degree in April 2022, which was titled as European Doctorate. The work developed was considered a major breakthrough and was also internationally awarded by Paul Ehrlich European MedChem Network-PhD Label (Greece, 2023). The work developed so far allowed me to publish 8 peer-reviewed publications in international journals (1 as first and correspondent author and 1 as first author) and 1 book chapter (h-index of 5). I have also participated in international and national scientific conferences, presenting 19 posters (10 as author) and 10 oral communications (5 as author). I also attended with full grant 1 international training school: the MuTaLig COST Action CA15135 Multi-Targeting Biophysical Training School (Germany, 2019). In addition to my research activities, I participated as invited Assistant in Medicinal Analysis class from the Laurea in Pharmacy (University of Cagliari) and supervised students in PhD Thesis (1), Project in the BSc in Chemistry, FCUP (2), Erasmus (9) and Highschool students in internship (2) in a total of 14 students. Currently, I am a post-doc researcher at CIQUP (https://ciqup.fc.up.pt/), where I work on the discovery and development of new chemical entities with therapeutic potential for neurodegenerative and/or infectious diseases, and evaluate their physicochemical properties and biological activity in cellular and not-cellular models.
