Vanessa Alexandra Conduto Miranda. I recently finished my PhD in Chemistry, with specialization in Organic Chemistry, where I developed new bioactive molecules with different biological functionalities, mainly to discover new biological receptors. During my PhD I faced many challenges which made me think independently and make conscious decisions in different subjects of my investigation work. I also supervised and trained new researchers in the lab from different nationalities and backgrounds, support and troubleshoot protocols and equipment. As a researcher with such broad background from chemistry to microbiology, analytical chemistry and bioinorganic chemistry, I aim to work in a very productive, organized and international environment. I focus on the aims and prioritize tasks, discuss results with my colleagues and supervisors and I analyze and interpret data. In these steps, I make multiple decisions that are important to assure the quality of the final results. I have experience in preparing the annual reports for the projects, writing papers and participating in project writing. During my researcher career, I have actively presented my work orally, for my group and the ITQB community, and in posters in different international conferences. From my career, 6 papers are coming out, each one evidencing the importance of the contribution of my work in each project that I was involved. During these years of laboratory experience, I was also responsible for the orientation and integration of several students (more than 5 technicians, one master student and two ERASMUS students) in the laboratory’s activities and helping them to solve some routine problems with the synthetic routes. More than doing Science, during these years I became a very proactive person and developed my skills in communication, brain-storming and improve my team spirit and ability to evaluate and adapt to circumstances.
