Catarina Neves graduated in Biology at the Faculty of Science and Technology of the University of Coimbra in 2013, and obtained her Master (Biomedical Research Master - MIB) at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Coimbra in 2015. In parallel with her Master thesis "The impact of elevated hydrostatic pressure in microglia: changes in the adenosinergic system and inflammatory responses" at the Coimbra Institute for Clinical and Biomedical Research (iCBR), Faculty of Medicine, University of Coimbra, she was involved in two funded projects: 1) "From neuroinflammation control to neuroprotection: blocking adenosine A2A receptor for the treatment of glaucoma", supported by FCT, and 2) "Managing inflammation in diabetic retinopathy by adenosine A2A receptor blockade", supported by Bayer. Within these projects, she participated in national and international scientific meetings (3 oral communications and 7 posters) and was author/co-author of 4 original and 1 review manuscripts. In 2016, she became a research fellow of the project "The changing brain in Alzheimer's disease (AD): is the retina a reliable mirror of disease onset and progression?", supported by Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Lisboa. As part of this project, she participated in national and international scientific meetings (1 international oral communication and 9 posters) and was author/co-author of 3 original and 1 review manuscripts. In 2019, she received an individual Ph.D. fellowship from FCT and started her Ph.D. "The putative role of microglia in schizophrenia gender differences" in Pharmaceutical Sciences at the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Coimbra. As part of this project, she participated in national and international scientific meetings (5 oral communications and 10 posters) and published 1 review article and 1 original article (another one prepared for submission). During this time, Catarina also gave some theoretical courses (2017-2022). Overall, Catarina is author/co-author of 12 publications, 20 oral communications and 30 posters.
