Michael González-Durruthy é graduado em Ciências Farmacêuticas (2002-2007), posui mestrado em Toxicologia Experimental (2008-2011); ambos pela Universidad de La Habana (UH/Cuba). Foi professor (instrutor) de Toxicologia do Departamento de Farmacologia e Toxicologia da Faculdade de Ciências Farmacêuticas (2007-2014). Doutor em Ciências Fisiológicas pela Universidade Federal do Rio Grande-FURG (2014-2018) trabalhando nos domínios científicos de Ciências Exatas (área: Química, sub-área: Quimica Medicinal) e Ciências Médicas e da Saúde (área: Farmacologia e Toxicologia, sub-área: Bioinformática) impactando com ênfase em Bioquímica e Nanotoxicologia Computacional, Metabolismo e Fisiologia Mitocondrial, e Farmacologia e Toxicologia Mitocondrial, orientado a estudos toxicologicos in silico de nanomateriais de carbono baseados em docking molecular, virtual screening, relações quantitativas estrutura-atividade acoplados a aprendizado automático (QSAR-machine learning) e redes neurais artificiais (ANN) na descoberta de novos alvos terapéuticos (mitocôndria) contra o cancro e outras doenças degenerativas com impacto em nanomedicina de precisão. Publicou 34 artigos em revistas especializadas e revisadas por pares. Atualmente, participa como investigador colabrador no Biosystems & Integrative Sciences Institute da Faculdade de Ciências Universidade de Lisboa-Portugal, (BioISI-FCUL) no Departamento de Físico-Química (2019-present). Também é investigador associado Laboratório Associado para a Química Verde Tecnologias e Processos Limpos do Departamento de Quìmica e Bioquìmica Faculdade de Ciências da Universidade do Porto-Portugal (LAQV@REQUINTE, DQB-FCUP); atuando na área de Química Medicinal e Bioquímica Computacional (2019-present). Realizou Pós-doutoramento em Nanotoxicologia Computacional no DQB-FCUP (2018-2019) visando "avalição de riscos de nanomateriais carbono com poteciais aplicações biomedicas em para nanomedicina de precisão".
