Eva Maia is a cybersecurity researcher at Instituto Superior de Engenharia do Porto. She holds a PhD in Computer Science from Faculdade de Ciências da Universidade do Porto. Her current research focus on the application of AI to enhance cybersecurity and ensuring the security and robustness of intelligent techniques. She actively participates in several European and national projects where AI is utilized to enhance the security of cyber-physical solutions and ensure their safety and trustworthiness. These solutions span various sectors, including health (such as SAFECARE, icare4NextG, and ForPharmacy), airports (SATIE), and industry (CYDERCO, VALU3S, SeCoIIA, and Cyberfactory). During her PhD, Eva also conducted research in automata theory and its application to the security and complexity of systems. She maintains close ties with the industrial sector, stemming from her background working in companies with security and artificial intelligence as core focuses, as well as through collaborations within project scopes. Eva is also involved in supervising the work of students and researchers within the scope of projects and master's theses. Eva was invited by the European Commission (EC) as an expert to monitor and assess the execution of HORIZON projects related to AI for cybersecurity. Additionally, she has served as an evaluator for HORIZON Europe proposals in the field of cybersecurity.

2019/03/01 - 2019/07/31 Development of an open source sensor (open source) that combines the capabilities of an intrusion detection system and an information management system and security events for monitoring computer infrastructures. Starting with a theoretical analysis of existing attacks, detection methodologies and the different types of mechanisms to mitigate or prevent these attacks. An analysis of open source tools available on the market was then carried out.
