Celso Alves holds a degree in Marine Biology and Biotechnology and a Master's in Marine Resources Biotechnology attributed by the School of Tourism and Marine Technology of the Polytechnic of Leiria and a PhD in Marine Science, Technology and Sea Management (Do*Mar) attributed by the University of Aveiro. Currently, He also developed a Mini-MBA executive training program at the Leiria Bussiness School. He is contracted researcher at the Marine and Environmental Sciences Centre in the Polytechnic of Leiria pole and invited assistant Professor at the Polytechnic of Leiria. His scientific work has been focused in the the study of marine organisms, including seaweeds, bacteria and fungi, as well as plants, as source of new bioactive compounds with potential for biotechnological and therapeutic applications. He is co-author of 2 patents, 68 publications in scientific journals with peer review, 2 book, 12 book chapters, 30 abstracts published in scientific journals with peer review and more than 85 communications, including oral and poster communications, at international congresses. In this period, He participated as researcher in national and international competitive projects (±18M¿). He was awarded/ distinguished 11 times individually or as team member. He was part of the organizing committee of International Meeting on Marine Research in 3 editions (2016, 2018, 2020) and part of the local organizing committee of XVI International Symposium on Marine Natural Products & XI European Conference on Marine Natural Products, event that join two of the major conferences in marine natural products by the 2nd time in their history. He has also actively participated in activities related to experimental science teaching involving young students, such as "Open Science Day", "Semana Tanto Mar" and "I Jornadas da Ciência", through the accomplishment of workshops in marine biotechnology field, as well as, in different TV/ Radio programs/ magazines.
