Patrícia is a Senior Lecturer at Faculty of Sport, University of Porto. She is also an effective member of the Centre for Research, Education, Innovation and Intervention in Sport (CIFI2D, Faculty of Sport, University of Porto). She graduated from University of Porto and obtained a PhD degree at the University of Porto and Queen's University (Canada). Within the area of Sports Sciences, her research interests are related to the topic of Sport Pedagogy, Didactics and Sports Training. More specifically, her research programme investigates the Long-term Athlete Development and the processes underpinning the Development and Identification of Talent in Sport. Her research seeks to understand the overall environmental influences (i.e. training patterns, social support, organizational culture, pedagogical milieu) that could impact the athletes' development, sport performance, skill acquisition and expertise enhancement in sport. Patrícia collaborates on research in these research fields with colleagues at universities in United Kingdom, Canada, Germany, Belgium, Spain and France, which establishes a strong and long network of international collaborations. Her scientific path is reflected in high standards research outputs, such as several scientific articles published in peer-review international indexed journals, book chapters, innumerous presentations in scientific international conferences, several invited plenary keynotes in high-level national and international events/conferences, which consequently lead to a high recognition of her work from the scientific community. She also establishes a strong collaboration with important national and international scientific societies, namely the Portuguese Society of Sport Pedagogy, International Society of Sport Pedagogy, International Society of Sport Psychology, the Portuguese Society of Sport Psychology and the European Network of Young Specialists in Sport Psychology. In addition to her research, Patrícia supervised several master students from Portugal and Brazil and co-supervised one doctoral student. She was also part of several PhD and Master panels as first evaluator. Patrícia contributes as a Lecturer to the MSc Sports Training, MSc Sports Psychology, MSc Physical Education, and BA Sports Sciences. In addition to her scientific and academic background, Patrícia is also very keen on linking theory and practice by applying this knowledge as a Coach Educator and Consultant of Portuguese Volleyball Federation and Porto Volleyball Association (since 2012), as a Volleyball Coach (more than 20 years of experience) and as a Coordinator of several long-term athlete developmental projects in clubs.
