I obtained my Integrated Master's degree in Chemical Engineering from University of Coimbra in July 2008. In September 2008, I have started doing research in the area of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) at the Mechanical Engineering Department of University of Coimbra. In September 2011, I have started my PhD studies in Chemical Engineering from University of Coimbra. I received my PhD in Chemical Engineering from University of Coimbra in January 2016, supervised by Prof. Doctor Maria da Graça Rasteiro and Prof. Doctor Dariusz Asendrych on Modelling of Fiber Suspensions in Pipes. During my PhD I obtained the basis of CFD for my future postdoctoral position. In September 2016, I started my postdoctoral studies at the Associated Laboratory LSRE-LCM, in an industrial project with EFACEC to work on the development of a simulator for fluid flow and heat transfer for Core-type power transformers. This experience enriched my research on CFD and on the application of CFD to generate data to validate and calibrate other numerical tools. From my work, a Thermal Hydraulic Network Model (THNM) Dynamic simulator for Core-type power transformers was developed. The application of THNM dynamic simulator has been successfully applied to simulate the fluid flow and heat transfer. At the end of 2018, I started to work on different academic and industrial projects at the same institution (LSRE-LCM) in the field of CFD. I was particularly involved in an industrial project with A4F biotechnology company to work on the development of CFD simulations for microalgae production. In September 2019, I started to work as a CFD research scientist at LEPABE, in simulation and optimization of different photobioreactor configurations for microalgae production. This work consolidated my knowledge in the CFD field exploring the use of numerical tools in the scientific community and industry. In January 2023, I started to work as a Collaborator at CERES-UC which was set up in 1994 as a research unit funded by the FCT under the name CIEPQPF, on Data Analysis to extract insights from experimental data, develop a model for the dagradation of PCT and optimum values . By the end of this period, my research resulted in 9 manuscripts published in international peer-reviewed journals, 12 conference papers and 3 conference abstracts, 7 oral presentations, 3 industrial reports and, 1 simulator. I am also involved in the peer review process for Applied Sciences MDPI journal in the domain of computational fluid dynamics, heat and mass transfer and non-Newtonian fluids. In addition to my research experience, I have great interest in doing research in order to apply my knowledge base in Chemical Engineering to scientific and industrial cases to contribute to the progress on scientific and industrial development and innovation.
