Andreia Palmeira completed her PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences (Pharmaceutical and Medicinal Chemistry) in 2011 from the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Porto (FFUP), and her Degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences in 2007 from the same institution. She is a researcher at the University of Porto - Interdisciplinary Center for Marine and Environmental Research (CIIMAR) - and has more than a decade of experience as an invited professor in the Department of Chemical Sciences of FFUP. She also taught for a year at the Instituto Superior de Saúde (ISAVE), where she was responsible for four curricular units. She has more than 70 articles published in specialized scientific journals, 30 oral communications at conferences, and 87 panel communications. She has published 1 book and 1 book chapter. She gave lectures on several courses and curricular units, namely the Pharmaceutical Chemistry Master at FFUP and the Pharmaceutical Sciences Integrated Master at the University of Azores. She supervised 3 Master's students and several students from the Project curricular unit. She also helped in the training of several doctoral students and participated in several thesis and monograph discussions. She was part of the organization and scientific committee of 11 congresses and courses. She has 13 training courses in the teaching field, and has attended several conferences and courses of professional update/training. She works in the area of Medical and Health Sciences with an emphasis on Medicinal Chemistry and Computer-assisted Drug Design (CAAD). In the CienciaVitae curriculum, the most frequent terms in the context of scientific production are: Docking, Pharmacophore, QSAR, Molecular Dynamics, and Virtual Screening (VS). Current research focuses on the VS and CADD of modulators of P-Glycoprotein, p53/MDM2, acetylcholinesterase, Zika, among others, as well as in silico analysis of the mechanism of action of small molecules on those targets.
