I have a background in biotechnology with both bachelor's and master's degrees from the University of Aveiro, achieving a master's final grade of 18/20. My path has led my research aims toward the development of biomaterials and strategies for regenerative purposes. My master's thesis work (graded 19/20) focused more specifically on the development of a tuneable and light-responsible nanocomposite ink for bone regeneration, developed under the guidance of Professor João Mano and Doctor Rita sobreiro-Almeida from COMPASS research group at CICECO-Aveiro Institute of Materials. Further, this thesis and its presentation were awarded with an honorable mention from the Portuguese Materials Society. During this time, I dealt with a variety of biomaterial synthesis, modification, and characterization methodologies including acquired experience in cell manipulation. I was also granted a research initiation grant from Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia (FCT) during my master's thesis. I count with 2 first-author publications in international peer-reviewed journals, and additional communications posters in six national and one international conference, and other submitted work. The work developed and my current position as a research grantee was developed under the scope of the Horizon 2020 InterLynk project, aimed at developing new design and fabrication methodologies for bioactive scaffolds aiming at multi-tissue regeneration. My research interests now revolve around the development of human/patient-derived tissue-specific bioinks with high translation potential, for which I have been awarded a doctoral grant from Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia. My ultimate goal is to actively contribute towards scientific progress, capable of sustainably improving on individual and societal needs.
