My research training and experience started with a Licentiate degree in Psychology (5-year degree) with a Pre-specialization in Clinical and Health Psychology and a master's degree in health psychology at the University of Minho. Those experiences allowed me to take my first steps with a research monograph and a dissertation. During this period, I have made some voluntary work with gifted children and research data insertion, supported the organization of scientific events, participated in a scientific program and was awarded two Academic Merit Awards. Afterwards, worked as a psychologist with several tasks, including organizing and carrying out focus groups, training sessions, workshops, and educational activities for children and youths. This allowed me to develop a sensitivity to work meticulousness with adolescent idiosyncrasies. I also worked as a clinical software trainer in a multinational corporation, where I provided training to healthcare professionals in several hospitals across Portugal and EUA, which allowed an enriching international experience. Following my research interests, I completed a PhD in Communication Sciences at the University of Minho with the thesis "Health Information Sources and Media Health Literacy: a study with Portuguese Teenagers" in 2020, financed by Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia (FCT). During my PhD, I was also a research visitor at the University of Victoria, Canada and had the opportunity to collaborate with recognized Professors in the areas of Communication and Education. This experience allowed me to contact with a different research environment and improve my research and scientific writing skills. Beyond my PhD grant, I have been awarded two Science and Technology Management Grants. Besides allowing me to pursue my scientific interests and develop my research skills, these grants also provided me with important learning opportunities, such as the organization of scientific events and the completion of several applications for research funding. I was also awarded three Research Fellowships/Grants in the area of Communication Sciences. Currently, I hold a Post-doctoral Fellowship at the NOVA University of Lisbon (NOVA FCSH). Since my licentiate degree, I had the opportunity to actively participate in four research projects, being a formal member of two of them. In all of those projects, I have contributed to the literature review and the development of instruments, data collection through interviews, focus groups or surveys, qualitative or quantitative analysis and manuscript writing. During the grants and projects, I published six peer-reviewed articles, four conference papers, and two didactic activity guides regarding media and communication (available on the Directorate of General Education website). Some of the results of my research work are currently being written and finalized or under peer revision in high-impact Journals. Simultaneously, I am a Journal Editor in the Health Communication area and have been working as a paper peer reviewer for four journals. Regarding Scientific Conferences and meetings, I performed fourteen oral presentations and four poster presentations. I also have been invited to be a speaker for two events in the past, to provide some academic seminars and to moderate a Health National event in June 2023. I was also invited to provide two interviews to disclose my research contributions. I am an integrated member at ICNOVA - Instituto de Comunicação da Nova at the Media and Journalism research group (M&J) and I am part of three associations related to Communication and Media. All of my research work was related to Psychology and Communication and Media, such as young people's perceptions and behaviour, media consumption and practices, media literacy, misinformation and fake news, children's digital rights and inclusion, youth participation and production in and through the media.
