João Reis graduated from Biochemistry by the Faculty of Sciences and Institute of Biomedical Sciences Abel Salazar of the University of Porto, in 2017, after concluding his internship in the Biochemistry and Biophysics Institute of Stockholm University. He also completed his MSc degree in Cell and Molecular Biology by the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Porto, in 2019. During his MSc thesis he also enrolled as a Research Technician Fellow in the project HALVERSITY (financed by the FCT) carried in the Interdisciplinary Center of Marine and Environmental Research (CIIMAR), until January 2020. He then joined the project FattyCyanos (CIIMAR) as a Researcher. Currently he is developing his PhD thesis focused on a new family of cyanobacterial enzymes. Main research interests on Biological sciences with emphasis on Biochemistry and Molecular Biology and has focused his research in natural product discovery and biocatalysis.
