Pedro Jorge da Silva Carneiro

Pedro Carneiro is a postdoctoral fellow at the Institute for Research and Innovation in Health (i3S) in the Cancer Signaling & Metabolism group under the project "Engineered nano-based device for glioblastoma multiforme therapy". He joined i3S in 2023 after obtaining his PhD in Biological and Chemical Engineering from the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto (FEUP) in 2023. His work focused on the development of electrochemical immunosensors for detection of neurodegenerative diseases biomarkers. This project was conducted both at the Laboratory for Process Engineering, Environment, Biotechnology and Energy (LEPABE) at FEUP and at GRAQ (Grupo de Reação e Análises Químicas), a group from REQUIMTE/LAQV at the School of Engineering of the Polytechnic of Porto (ISEP). Prior to this he graduated in Bioengineering from the School of Biotechnology of the Catholic University of Portugal in 2011 followed by a Master's degree in Biomedical Engineering from FEUP in 2013. During this time he has been involved in 5 research projects that resulted in 7 publications (>230; h-index 5) in international scientific peer-reviewd journals. His main research interests focus on the design and application of nanotechnology and nanoscience-based biosensors with interest for therapy and diagnostics.
