Ana Raquel Pereira Santos holds a Bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry from the Faculty of Science and Technology, University of Coimbra, and a Master’s degree in Biomedical Research, specializing in Infection and Immunity, from the Faculty of Medicine, University of Coimbra. With a strong academic background in immunity, inflammation, microbiology, and neuroscience, she has co-authored 10 scientific papers (including one as first author) and one book chapter. Currently, she is pursuing a PhD in Experimental Biology and Biomedicine at the University of Coimbra, developing her work at the Gut-Brain Axis Group within the Center for Neuroscience and Cell Biology (University of Coimbra). Her work has been recognized with the "PDBEB Student Best Scientific Publication Extraordinary Support" award, and her project, "Neurodevelopmental-Immune Continuum Hypothesis for Parkinson’s Disease," received funding from the Parkinson's and Movement Disorder Foundation.
