Mónica Galocha completed her degree in Biology in 2015 at University of Lisbon, Faculty of Sciences. Concluded her MSc and PhD degrees in Biotechnology and Biosciences from Instituto Superior Técnico, University of Lisbon, in 2017 and 2023, respectively. Mónica Galocha has currently a Postdoctoral contract at Malaria Lab headed by Maria Mota, at Gulbenkian Institute for Molecular Medicine (GIMM). Published 14 papers in peer reviewed international journals and 2 book chapters. Contributed to the public databases PathoYeastract and YEASTRACT. Participated in 4 international scientific events. Mentored 3 MSc students and juried 1 MSc’s dissertation. Received 4 awards/honors. Participated as PhD Fellow in 1 project. Mónica Galocha works in the area of Biological Sciences with an emphasis on Cellular Biology, Infectious Diseases, and Genomics. Currently, her research at Mota Lab is focused on the biology and physiology of the malaria parasite, namely the mechanisms and molecular players of the high replication rate occurring during the parasite liver stage schizogony, which influences parasite genetic diversity and virulence.
