I hold a PhD (Excellent Cum Laude) in Biology and Plant Biotechnology (Autonomous University of Barcelona, UAB, 2013). I also received an MSc in Scientific, Medical and Environmental Communication (Pompeu Fabra University, UPF, Barcelona School of Management, 2006), a Postgraduate Diploma in Knowledge, Science and Citizenship in the Information Society (University of Barcelona, 2007), and an MSc in Biology and Plant Biotechnology (UAB, 2009). I also completed a MA in European Studies on Society, Science and Technology (specialization in Governance, Innovation and Sustainability) at Maastricht University and Alpen-Adria-Universität Klagenfurt (2017). Currently, I am the responsible (PI) in Portugal for the EU-funded project ENJOI (Engagement and Journalism Innovation for Outstanding Open Science Communication), which aims to improve science communication and increase public engagement in this field. Before this, I worked as a researcher in the EU project NEWSERA (Citizen Science as the new paradigm for science communication) and in the EU project PROSEU. In all these projects, I had the opportunity to work with a variety of stakeholders from the 4-helix of innovation (academia, government, industry, civil society and the media). I have broad experience in project coordination, communication, data management (Open Science), methodological design and facilitation of workshops (Living Labs and co-creation), and both qualitative and quantitative data analysis. My research interests lie in the relationship between science/technology, environment topics, and society.
