Catarina Carvalho, licenciada em Ciências da Nutrição pela Faculdade de Ciências da Nutrição e Alimentação da Universidade do Porto, mestre em Tecnologia e Ciência Alimentar pela Escola de Engenharia da Universidade do Minho/Faculdade de Ciências da Universidade do Porto e Doutorada em Saúde Pública pela Faculdade de Medicina da Universidade do Porto. Integra a equipa do laboratório “Alimentação, consumo e sustentabilidade” da linha de investigação “L3 - Determinantes genéticos, ambientais e comportamentais da saúde e da doença”, do Laboratório de Investigação Integrativa e Translacional em Saúde da População (ITR). Desde 2018 integra a equipa de vários projetos nacionais e internacionais, entre os quais o Inquérito Alimentar Nacional e de Atividade Física (IAN-AF 2015-2016), e vários projetos financiados pela Autoridade Europeia para a Segurança dos Alimentos – EFSA – (ERA EU-Menu, Risk-Benefit4EU, DOSE). Em 2019, recebeu bolsa individual de doutoramento da Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia, com o projeto Public Health Risk-Benefit Assessment of Foods: a comprehensive approach integrating health and sustainability (SFRH/BD/146078/2019). Atualmente exerce atividade como Individual Scientific Advisor na Autoridade Europeia para a Segurança dos Alimentos e como Assistente Convidada na Faculdade de Ciências da Nutrição e Alimentação da Universidade do Porto.
