António Albino-Teixeira graduated as a MD in 1975 at the Faculty of Medicine - University of Porto. During his whole professional life, he has strived to conciliate his clinical and academic careers. He became a Specialist in Rheumatology in 1986, and in Clinical Pharmacology in 1988. In 1992, he finished his PhD in Pharmacology and Therapeutics, at the Faculty of Medicine - University of Porto, where he also concluded his Habilitation in the same area, in 1999, and became a Full-Professor in 2007. AAT has published 82 articles in peer-reviewed journals and several book chapters. He has supervised/co-supervised 11 PhD theses, 21 MSc dissertations, and 3 post-doctoral fellowships. He has coordinated 5 competitively funded projects, 4 of which as Principal Investigator (PI) and 1 as Co-PI, and has participated in other 25 projects, 13 as Researcher and 12 as Supervisor. He has received 20 awards/honors. AAT's works, mostly published in Pharmacology & Pharmacy, Cardiovascular System & Cardiology, Neurosciences & Neurology, Research & Experimental Medicine, or Biochemistry & Molecular Biology categories, were co-authored by 151 collaborators. His current research interests include: (1) inflammation, resolution of inflammation, oxidative stress and renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system in human clinical settings (children obesity, acute heart failure, cardiogenic shock, septic shock, COVID-19); and (2) neuroinflammation, redox imbalance and resolution pharmacology in preclinical models of chronic pain and other central nervous system diseases.
