Rolando Martins, the PI for this project, has past significant work in secure distributed systems, including a fellowship at Carnegie Mellon University under Intel Science & Technology Center and Parallel Data Lab. He also worked as a research scientist at Yinzcam, a leading mobile sports apps, where he focused on cloud computing, big data, content management systems, security and video streaming. He is currently a Senior Researcher both at Competence Centre for Cybersecurity and Privacy/UP and at Center for Research in Advanced Computing/INESC-TEC. He is currently an Assistant Professor at FCUP, and acts as Vice-Director for the Information Security Masters. He also serves as the Vice-Chair of the IEEE Portuguese Computer Society Chapter. He has successfully guided 3 PhD students and currently has 1 PhD student and 5 Masters students. He was the co-PI of FCT funded project, (Co-IP, Angerona, CMU-Portugal). He is currently the UP’s PI for Theia, a P2020 project in collaboration with Bosch for autonomous vehicles with a total budget of 28M€. Other research projects include Safecities (P2020, Security WP leader) for securing IoT in a smart city, Container Oriented Policing (P2020, IP, co-promotion with Talkdesk) that aims to leverage novel ways to orchestrate and improve container security and H2020 (CyberSec4Eur, UP partner leader) that focus in the governance and interconnection of the future national cybersecurity centers. He currently has 2 Patents, both accepted in Portugal and with pending requests in both Europe and the USA, https://bit.ly/3Cn66SX. Rolando Martins also has appeared in TV interviews acting as cybersecurity expert in RTP1 and SIC Notícias. He also has two issues in Exame Informática regarding his work. One of the issues, January 2022 talked about Theia, and the second one, February 2022, talked about the ongoing collaboration with Prof. Luís Veiga, the co-PI for this proposal, regarding cloud decentralization, titled “Favores em cadeia”.
