Filipe Teixeira é Nutricionista e Doutorado (com Distinção e Louvor) em Motricidade Humana ¿ Fisiologia do Exercício pela Faculdade de Motricidade Humana da Universidade de Lisboa. Investigou (em colaboração com a Universidade de McMaster), o efeito de diversos metabolitos da leucina (sob a supervisão externa e mentoria do Prof. Stuart M. Phillips). Possui diversas publicações em revistas científicas internacionais de renome, entre as quais se destacam a Clinical Nutrition (revista oficial da European Society for Clinical Nutrition and Metabolism), Medicine & Science in Sports & Exercise (revista oficial do American College of Sports Medicine), Journal of Sport Sciences, European Journal of Sport Science (revista oficial do European College of Sport Science), Nutrients, Biology, Frontiers in Nutrition e Pharmacological Research. É investigador no Centro Interdisciplinar de Estudo da Performance Humana (CIPER) da Faculdade de Motricidade Humana e docente no ensino superior, nas áreas da Bioquímica, Dietoterapia, Suplementação Alimentar e Nutrição no Desporto. Possui atualmente cédula de Título Profissional de Técnico de Exercício Físico, sendo também antropometrista certificado de nível I pela International Society for the Advancement of Kinanthropometry (ISAK). É atualmente consultor científico de uma empresa de Biotecnologia.
