Ricardo Assunção, veterinarian, has dedicated his career to advancing public health, particularly in the realm of food safety and its implications for human health. He earned his European PhD in Veterinary Sciences from the Institute for Advanced Studies and Research at the University of Évora, Portugal, specializing in the intersection of food and human disease. Ricardo furthered his expertise by participating in the prestigious EU-FORA | The European Food Risk Assessment Fellowship Programme, facilitated by the EFSA (European Food Safety Authority). During this program, he served as a visiting researcher at the Risk-Benefit Research Group of the National Food Institute, Technical University of Denmark. Ricardo Assunção actively participates in numerous national and international research projects and has authored or co-authored several peer-reviewed articles and communications in both national and international contexts, with an h-index of 21 in SCOPUS. Beyond his research, Ricardo Assunção is sought after as an invited lecturer and trainer on topics related to food safety and public health. He has received recognition for his contributions, including the Merit Award (2017) from the University of Évora (IIFA) and the Brigitte-Gedek Science Award (2018) from the Society for Mycotoxin Research.
