João Daniel de Oliveira Arrojado Viana, born in Vila do Conde, 1998, Master in Civil Engineering by the Faculty of Engineering of Porto (FEUP) concluded in September 2021 with a grade of 16/20 values. His dissertation was within the scope of the FIBERBRIDGE Project - Fatigue strengthening and assessment of railway metallic bridges using fiber-reinforced polymers, funded by FCT. The theme was "Monotonic and fatigue behaviour of metallic details reinforced with CFRP plates", and was supervised by Professors José Correia and Rui Calçada, giving him in-depth knowledge about fatigue, fracture mechanics and retrofitting solutions on railway metallic bridges, and the progress he made on the work gave important contributions for this project. During his academic pathway, he was tutor at the Levelling Course in Mathematics for Brazilian students, coordinator of a mentor's team in the Civil'IN Mentorship Program and member of the Activities and Logistics Department of the International Association of Civil Engineering Students (IACES-LC Porto). Recently he has been involved with a research group learning new concepts on offshore structures, wind turbine, finite element method and conforming and nonconforming formulations, and a paper entitled "Horizontal and Vertical Axis Wind Turbines on Existing Jacket Platforms: Part 2 - Retrofitting Activities" has been accepted in the Journal Structures. He is now preparing another paper related to his dissertation theme with a more innovative approach.
