Susana Maria Pinto de Carvalho completed the Licenciatura in Engenharia Agrícola in 1997 by Universidade de Trás-os-Montes e Alto Douro and Doktor (PhD) in PhD 'Production Ecology and Resources Conservation' in 2003 by Wageningen University and Research Centre (The Netherlands). She is Assistant Professor at Faculty of Sciences from University of Porto (FCUP), Vice-director in 'GreenUPorto - Research Centre on Sustainable Agrifood Production', Director of the MSc program in 'Agronomical Engineering' (FCUP) and Vice-Director of PhD program in 'Agricultural Sciences'. Since 2020, Susana Carvalho is the Scientific & Technical Manager of the International Master Course Erasmus+ "TERRATECH - masTERs course on smArt Agriculture TECHnologies". Associate Editor from Frontiers in Plant Science (sub-section Crop and Product Physiology; IF 6.627; The most-cited Plant Sciences journal in the world). During the past 20 years, her research has been focused on horticulture, ecophysiology, plant physiology, plant nutrition, plant pathology, crop growth modelling, mostly using greenhouse crops as model systems. Published ca. 75 articles in ISI-journals and book chapters (H-index 19). Organized 13 Scientific Events. To date SC supervised/co-supervised 18 PhD students (9 concluded) and 58 MSc students, coordinated 13 R&D projects with competitive funding (being Work Package Leader of 3 EU-projects) and participated as member of the research team in several other multidisciplinary projects (including more 2 EU-projects). Presented ca. 110 communications in International Congresses (including 50 Oral/keynotes) and has a large experience as member of Evaluation Committees of National and International calls.
