Pedro Carvalho completed his PhD in Tissue Engineering, Regenerative Medicine and Stem Cells in 2012 by the University of Minho and University of Louisiana (Pennington Biomedical Research Center). He has published dozens of articles in specialized magazines and several book chapters. He works in the area of Regenerative Medicine with an emphasis on Clinical Application of Cellular Therapy using Stem Cells and Growth Factors. In its Ciência Vitae curriculum, the most frequent terms in the context of scientific and technological production are: Regenerative medicine; Stem cells; Cell therapy; Stem cells derived from adipose tissue; Mesenchymal stem cells to name a few. In 2014 he was invited as Professor at Vasco da Gama University School. In 2015 he founded the first Portuguese biotec company to provide stem cell treatments for clinical application in species of veterinary interest, Vetherapy, of which he is the CEO. The same year (2015) he founded and became President of the Portuguese Society of Veterinary Regenerative Medicine. In 2016 he received an Innovation Award from Veterinária Atual (the only Portuguese magazine focused on veterinary medicine). The same year, he founded and became Director of Vasco da Gama Research Center, the firs research center ever created at the faculty. In 2017 he was awarded an acceleration program at Indiebio (San Francisco) and an investment to incorporate Vetherapy in Silicon Valley. In April of 2019 he was nominated Dean of Vasco da Gama University School, up to 2021. He is currently involved in several national and international R&D projects.
